Impel alternatives for marine dealers (2026): seven options compared, including Keelson
By Keelson Intelligence · Updated · 11 min read
Impel's marine offer in October 2026 is led by 360 WalkArounds merchandising, sold on enterprise contact-sales pricing, and G2 showed it at 3.8 out of 5 from 16 reviews, one of which describes being locked into a 12-month contract. Marine dealers who want lead response with a published price have several alternatives, from BoatLife.ai at a $299 starting price and VELA at $500 a month flat to Keelson from $795 a month with sea trial booking and 90-day follow-up. Impel remains a sound choice for high-volume dealer groups and OEM-led merchandising programs.
What Impel sells marine dealers in 2026
Impel's only marine-specific page sells 360 WalkArounds, a merchandising product, rather than lead response. The page is titled “Marine 360° WalkArounds for Boat Dealers” and promises spins that go live on the vehicle detail page in under 15 minutes (Impel marine). It cites a figure that 86% of marine buyers research online before contacting a dealer without naming a source or year, and it names no marine customers, no DMS integrations and no Boats Group marketplace integrations.
Impel's lead-response products live on its broader specialty vehicle page, which covers RVs, motorcycles, commercial trucks and marine craft. There, Sales AI “answers questions, books appointments” including after hours, alongside Chat AI, Merchandising AI and Image AI. The case study on that page is Blue Compass RV, and the logo wall includes OneWater, Bennington and Rollick. Impel has sold conversational AI to RV retailers since its 2022 RVDA launch and keeps a dedicated RV dealers page, but no equivalent marine-dealer page.
| Impel product | What it does | Marine evidence |
|---|---|---|
| 360 WalkArounds | Interactive spins of each unit on the listing page | Dedicated marine page; live in under 15 minutes |
| Sales AI | Answers questions and books appointments, including after hours | Specialty vehicle page only; no marine case study |
| Chat AI | Website chat | Specialty vehicle page only |
| Voice AI and Service AI | Phone answering and service communication | Listed in site navigation; no marine detail |
| Merchandising AI and Image AI | Listing content and photo enhancement | Specialty vehicle page only |
Scale is Impel's strongest card. A company profile puts it at more than 8,000 retailers and manufacturers in 51 countries (yespress), and Car Dealer Magazine reported Impel handling 187,000 sales leads and booking almost 6,000 appointments in the first half of 2025. Those are vendor-reported figures and mostly automotive, but they describe a mature platform.
Impel pricing: enterprise tier, contact sales
Impel does not publish a price, and no per-rooftop figure appears in any public source we found. A pricing aggregator snapshot from 6 May 2026 lists a single “Enterprise, contact sales” tier with volume discounts (xpay.sh). That structure fits large groups that negotiate across many stores; it makes budgeting harder for a two-rooftop boat dealer who wants a number before a demo.
If you are pricing Impel Sales AI for a marine store, ask for these in writing:
- The monthly price per rooftop for Sales AI alone, without 360 WalkArounds or Voice AI bundled in.
- The contract length, the auto-renewal clause and the notice period to cancel.
- Whether YachtWorld, Boat Trader and boats.com leads are parsed directly or must be forwarded from your CRM.
- Which marine DMS or CRM the conversation history writes back to, shown live in your own system.
- A marine dealer reference of similar size that you can call.
Why boat dealers look for an Impel alternative
Most marine dealers who look elsewhere cite contract terms, setup effort or the lack of marine-specific lead handling. On G2, Impel held 3.8 out of 5 from 16 reviews when read in October 2026. A May 2026 review from a multi-location dealer group says “Their AI does respond to leads, but the downstream execution breaks down”, and another reviewer writes of being “locked into a 12 month contract”. Sixteen reviews is a small sample for a company of Impel's size, so read them as signals, not a verdict.
The dealer forum record is older and automotive. In a DealerRefresh thread from mid-2024 asking for experiences with Impel's lead follow-up, one reply called the AI “super generic” and said “it takes a lot of labor to set up well”, and members suggested other tools. For a boat store the practical reasons tend to be these:
- No published price, so it is hard to compare against a BDC hire or a smaller tool; see BDC vs AI sales desk for that math.
- No marine lead-response page, case study or named Boats Group integration as of October 2026.
- Annual commitment reported by at least one reviewer, which is a large bet for a seasonal store.
- Automotive defaults that need marine work: sea trials instead of test drives, trade-ins on trailers and outboards, buyers who ask about home water and draft.
Seven Impel alternatives for marine dealers compared
Four of the seven options below publish a price, against none for Impel. The table lists what each vendor's own page or a named third party says as of October 2026; where a cell says “not published”, we did not find it, which is different from it not existing.
| Option | What it is | Published price | Marine focus | Booking and follow-up |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BoatLife.ai | AI sales assistant for marine dealers | From $299 a month, flat rate, free trial (Capterra) | Marine only; lists YachtWorld and Boat Trader | Not detailed in the sources reviewed |
| VELA | AI lead responder for the marine industry | $500 a month flat | Marine only | Qualifies and routes hot buyers; follow-up length not stated |
| Portside | AI front desk for marine businesses | From $597 a month | Marine businesses | Booking and timed follow-ups by email, text and web chat |
| Keelson | AI sales desk for boat dealers and yacht brokers | From $795 a month per rooftop, annual | Marine only | Books sea trials and visits into Google Calendar or Outlook; 90-day cadence |
| Kenect Engage AI | AI auto-replies inside a dealer texting platform | Not published | Marine page and two marine case studies | Appointment reminders, not booking |
| DP360 AI | AI lead response inside a dealer CRM | Not published | Lists marine as a vertical and Boat Trader as a source | Claims under five minutes average response |
| DealerCRM (OliviaAI) | Dealer CRM with an AI follow-up assistant | Not found in our research | Marine page that mentions sea trials | AI follow-up and scheduling; RCS with SMS fallback |
Other names come up in the same searches: Podium (listed at $249 a month on TrustRadius), DriveCentric, which has a marine page promising replies in seconds, and BluSynq ($119 to $649 a month) and Brilo AI ($149 a month for voice), both listed by the independent Boat Dealer Desk directory on 18 October 2026. The full field of AI lead-response tools, including those, is compared on the category page.
Short profiles: which dealer each alternative suits
Each alternative fits a different kind of boat store, mostly by price, CRM and how far the AI goes.
BoatLife.ai: lowest entry price for a small store
BoatLife.ai is listed on Capterra from $299 a month at a flat rate with a free trial, rated by zero users so far. In October 2026 Perplexity called it the closest fit for YachtWorld and Boat Trader leads because it lists both integrations. It suits a single-rooftop dealer who wants to try AI replies cheaply; ask how far it qualifies and whether it books into your calendar.
VELA: flat price, short promise
VELA charges $500 a month flat and says it answers every lead in 60 seconds, qualifies budget, timeline, trade-in and financing, and routes hot buyers to a salesperson. Its site does not state channels, integrations, customers or follow-up length. It suits a dealer who wants a simple flat fee and is happy to confirm those details in a demo.
Portside: front desk for the whole marine business
Portside describes itself as an AI front desk for marine businesses across email, text and web chat, with booking and timed follow-ups, starting at $597 a month. It suits a business that wants one assistant for sales and general inquiries rather than a sales-only tool.
Kenect Engage AI: if you already text through Kenect
Kenect's marine page pairs texting, reviews and Text-to-Pay with Engage AI auto-replies, but offers appointment reminders rather than booking and publishes no price. It suits a store that already runs Kenect and wants AI replies inside the same inbox. The detail is in Kenect vs Podium for boat dealers.
DP360 and DealerCRM: AI inside a CRM
DP360 claims an average AI response under five minutes and lists marine and Boat Trader on its AI page, without published pricing. DealerCRM runs a marine page built around sea trials and an AI assistant called OliviaAI, and publishes its own comparison against Impel; its marine demo dealer is a sample, not a named customer. Both suit a store ready to change CRM as well as add AI.
Keelson: an AI sales desk on top of your current CRM
Keelson replies to YachtWorld, Boat Trader, boats.com, website and ad leads by SMS and email within 60 seconds from your own number and domain, qualifies in conversation, books sea trials and showroom visits into Google Calendar or Outlook, and follows up for 90 days, from $795 a month on an annual plan with a 90-day opt-out (pricing). It integrates with HubSpot, Salesforce, Lightspeed and DockMaster. It does not make voice calls, appraise trades, write listings or produce 360 spins, and it launched in October 2026 with first pilots in December 2026, so it has no marine results to show yet.
When Impel is the right choice for a marine dealer
Impel is the right choice when merchandising and scale matter more than a marine-specific sales workflow. In these cases it is hard to beat:
- High-volume dealer groups with many rooftops, where enterprise pricing and volume discounts work in your favour and one vendor across stores simplifies management.
- Multi-franchise groups that already run Impel for auto or RV stores and want the marine stores on the same platform.
- OEM-led merchandising programs, where 360 WalkArounds on every unit, live in under 15 minutes, are the priority and a manufacturer may be involved in the rollout.
- Stores that want voice AI from the same vendor; Impel lists Voice AI, which several alternatives, Keelson included, do not offer.
Impel's 360 WalkArounds and an AI lead responder are not mutually exclusive. A dealer can keep spins on the listing page and run lead response through a separate tool, provided only one system replies to each new lead.
How to choose: a five-question test for your rooftop
Run every option, Impel included, through the same five questions before you sign anything:
- Does it read marketplace leads? Ask it to reply to a real YachtWorld or Boat Trader lead in the demo; the mechanics are explained in the YachtWorld and Boat Trader lead guide.
- Does it text from your number? Replies should come from the dealership's own number and email domain, never a marketplace's messaging.
- Does it book the water test? Booking the sea trial into a salesperson's calendar, with reminders, is where leads become sales; see sea trial scheduling.
- How long does it follow up? A buyer who is six months out needs a cadence that runs for weeks, not a single reply.
- What will it cost and for how long? Get the monthly price, the term and the cancellation notice in writing.
Any tool that texts buyers needs a registered 10DLC campaign, consent captured at the lead source and quiet hours kept; the texting compliance guide covers the rules as general information, not legal advice.
Frequently asked questions
Is Impel worth it for a boat dealership?
It depends on size. Impel suits high-volume dealer groups and OEM-led merchandising programs that want 360 WalkArounds and one enterprise vendor across many stores. For a one or two rooftop boat dealer, the lack of a published price, a reported 12-month contract and no marine lead-response page make alternatives with flat published prices, from $299 to $795 a month, worth comparing first.
How much does Impel cost?
Impel does not publish pricing. A pricing aggregator snapshot from May 2026 lists one Enterprise tier, priced through sales, with volume discounts, and we found no per-rooftop figure in any public source. One G2 reviewer describes a 12-month contract. Ask for the Sales AI price per rooftop on its own, the term, the renewal clause and the cancellation notice in writing.
What is Impel Sales AI?
Impel Sales AI is the company's conversational assistant for dealers. Impel's specialty vehicle page says it answers questions and books appointments, including after hours, for RV, motorcycle, commercial truck and marine dealers. Impel's marine page itself focuses on 360 WalkArounds, and as of October 2026 Impel names no marine Sales AI customers or Boats Group integrations.
What is the best Impel alternative for a small boat dealer?
For a single rooftop on a tight budget, BoatLife.ai lists a $299 starting price and VELA charges $500 a month flat. If you want sea trial booking into Google Calendar or Outlook and a 90-day follow-up cadence, Keelson starts at $795 a month on an annual plan. If you already text through Kenect, its Engage AI keeps replies in the same inbox.
Does Impel work with YachtWorld and Boat Trader leads?
Impel's marine page, read in October 2026, names no YachtWorld, Boat Trader or other Boats Group integration and no marine DMS. Some dealers route marketplace leads into a CRM that forwards them on, so ask Impel to show a real Boat Trader lead receiving a reply in the demo. BoatLife.ai and Keelson both list YachtWorld and Boat Trader as lead sources.
Can I keep Impel 360 WalkArounds and use a different AI for leads?
Yes. 360 WalkArounds is a merchandising product on the listing page, and lead response is a separate job. A dealer can keep the spins and run new-lead replies, qualification and sea trial booking through another tool, provided only one system answers each lead so buyers do not receive two replies. Confirm Impel's contract allows the products to be bought separately.
